Creating a Path Selection Node
The following describes the basics of setting up Path Selection nodes within a bespoke IVR. The standard use for this type of node is to nominate a single path along which all incoming calls should be routed. Alternate paths may be nominated later to fulfil the ongoing requirements of the service.
We recommend assigning a path node as the top-most entry in every new IVR you create. Doing this lets you create multiple branches, each matching a particular scenario for your service, which can then be edited independently without affecting other branches.
Implementation
- If the intended IVR service has not already been created, do this now.
- Click the Config link for the path where you want your path selection to occur.
- Use the option on the right-hand side of the page to change the node type to Path Selection.
- Click Update. This will refresh the page, and display options relevant to the chosen type of node.
- Give the path selection a suitable Name.
- Choose a suitable price list for the node, if different to the default one for this service.
- Under What Would You Like This Node To Do, select Choose One Path (without allowing the caller to press #).
- Click Update and Set the Configuration.
- Scroll down to the Path Choices section.
- Every new path selection node is assigned three child paths by default. If you need to add more paths, click the Add Another Path button until you have all you need.
- To permanently delete the last path in the list, click Delete Last Path.
You will not be asked to confirm deletions.
- To specify which path all calls entering this node should be sent down, select the corresponding radio button in the list, then press Update. You can always change this later as needed.
- Click Save Settings to confirm and apply your choices.
