Creating a Customer

The following describes how to create a new customer.

While creating a customer, you have the option to create a service for that customer. Further services may be added to a customer after this process has been completed.

It's possible to create multiple services of the same type using this method. This is explained below as part of the Settings section of the Add Services Wizard.

Implementation

  1. From the homepage, select Add Customers and Services > The Add Services Wizard. This opens a new page.

  2. When ready, click Next to access the Customer tab.

You can use the Back button at any time to return to an earlier section of this wizard, as needed.

Customer

  1. Ensure the Create a New Customer radio button is selected. If not, select it and press Update.
  2. Use the first drop-down to select which Reseller the customer belongs to.
  3. Complete all relevant fields in the customer details form, including all Required fields such as their E-mail Address and PIN.
  4. Click Next to move on to the Service tab.

Service

  1. Select the intended service type.

If you don't intend to create a service at this stage, select Only Create a Customer Account. If you do this, when you click Next you'll skip straight to the Billing section.

  2. Click Choose, and See Product Details. The right-hand panel will update with information about the chosen type.
  3. Click Next to move on to the Numbers tab.

Numbers

  1. Use the filter options at the top of the phone number list to choose:
    • How many numbers you want to add to the initial service.
    • What prefix those numbers should have (e.g. 0121737 for numbers associated with the Birmingham, UK geographic block).
    • What grade the numbers should be (affecting how memorable they are, and how much they cost).
    • How they should be chosen (for example, whether they are the next available, are a random selection, or contain specific number segments).
    • Where the numbers should come from (for example, the public pool, or the pool for an existing customer).
  2. Click Search to fetch a list of numbers matching your criteria.
  3. Add the numbers you want using one of the following methods:
    • One at a time: Click the Add button for each number you want.
    • Simultaneously: Tick the check box of any number you want to add, then click Add Ticked Numbers.

Use the check box underneath the list to quickly select or deselect all listed numbers.

  4. Repeat steps 10-12 until you have a complete set of numbers for this service. You'll be able to see a list of Pricing for the chosen numbers based on the current Billing tab. This list will update as you add and remove numbers, or change billing options.
  5. Click Next to move on to the Settings tab.

Settings

  1. For each number selected, use the settings provided to configure the behaviour of that number.

You should tick the Update button each time you make changes to a number's settings on this screen. Doing this will ensure the correct options and information are displayed.

  2. Click Next to move on to the Billing tab.

Billing

  1. Use the Price List For this Service drop-down to choose a suitable price list to apply to the service or services you're creating for this customer.
  2. Click Change Price List to apply the chosen price list.
  3. Click Next to move on to the Creation tab.

Creation

  1. By default, this tab provides a short summary of the information most pertinent to what you're doing. You can view a full summary of the effects of this process by selecting the Show the Full Validity Report radio button and pressing Update.

At this point, you should take a look back through the rest of the tabs in the wizard to confirm all of the choices you've made reflect what you want to create. Although you can make changes later, you should try to ensure the new services are configured properly.

  2. If you encounter any errors or warnings on the Creation tab, you should read them in full to ensure you know their cause, and go back to an earlier section of the wizard to fix them if needed. You'll still be able to complete this process with minor faults, although the resulting services may not function correctly until they are resolved.
  3. If you want to read the full terms and conditions for setting up the chosen services, tick the corresponding check box and press Update. The page will refresh and display the requested information.
Clear the check box and press Update a second time to hide the information when you've finished reading it.
  4. When you are happy with the new services, tick the I Agree to the Terms and Conditions of these Services check box and press Update.
  5. Press Create Services to confirm your choices and proceed with creation. You'll receive a Service Creation message letting you know what happened. Assuming all is well, click Next to move on to the Notifications tab.

Notifications

  1. Tick any of the check boxes under Logs Generated During Creation to view specific details about the creation process. You can hide the information once more by clearing the corresponding check boxes.
  2. If you want to notify any of the organisations involved in the service, including the customer, client, and more by e-mail, tick the relevant check box and provide a subject line and message body using the fields provided. Certain e-mail forms include other options, such as whether or not to attach additional information to the e-mail. Each of these e-mails will be sent at the completion of this process.
  3. Use the final drop-down to choose what page you want to be taken to after exiting the wizard. This could be a summary of the new service or its customer, or you can ask to be taken back to the start of the wizard to start this process again to create more services.
  4. Click Finish to conclude the process. All requested e-mails will be sent, and you will be redirected to the page you specified.

You can make changes to any service created by this wizard, using the Service Details page.
